It won’t just be General Cigar Co. receiving a leadership change in the wake of Dan Carr’s dismissal as president of the company. General’s parent, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) will also be receiving changes. Craig Reynolds, who has served as president of STG-0wned retailer Cigars International (CI) since 2011, will be promoted to executive vice-president of handmade cigars global, a new role which will oversee all premium cigars for STG in both the U.S. and international markets. Multiple sources told halfwheel that Reynolds will keep his position as head of CI. Reynolds will not have the title as president of General Cigar Co., that job goes to Régis Broersma, who has previously served as the managing director for STG in Germany. Carr was dismissed on Friday. He had been with General for nearly two decades and had served as the company’s president since 2010. The company has still not publicly commented on the matter. Alan Willner, vp of marketing for General, will serve as the interim president. General is one of the two largest cigar companies in the U.S. Its brands include CAO, Cohiba, La Gloria Cubana, Macanudo and Partagas, amongst others. A representative of General Cigar Co. could not be immediately reached for comment.
