A ban on smoking and the use of e-cigarettes could soon be coming to Vermont’s largest city, as the Burlington Ordinance Committee approved the idea earlier this week and the proposal now heads to the city council. The ban would be an effective extension of one currently in place at the city’s beaches and that applies within 25 feet of structures or playgrounds, according to MyChamplainValley.com. The Burlington City Council next meets on Monday, Oct. 26 but the smoking ban does not appear to be on the agenda, so the next meeting it could be heard at would be Nov. 9. Burlington had a 2013 population of 42,284 residents.
