The Leaf by Oscar line will be adding a limited edition lancero vitola to all four of its blends in early November, but don’t expect to see it everywhere. The new size will only be made available to approximately 50 retailers in the United States, according to Jim Robinson, owner of Leaf & Bean in Pittsburgh, Pa. and the distributor of the Leaf by Oscar line. Currently, the Leaf by Oscar is only offered in a 6 x 50 toro or 6 x 60 vitola, so this new size is a departure from what existing customers have seen. The new size will retain the Honduran binder and filler while being offered with four wrapper options: Honduran Connecticut, Nicaraguan Jalapa Maduro, Honduran Corojo or Ecuadorian Sumatra. Regardless of the wrapper, each cigar will sell for $8.50 before taxes, and like the other sizes, the lancero will come wrapped in a tobacco leaf. The list of retailers who will carry the new lancero has not been disclosed, nor have production numbers or packaging options. The cigars are made at Oscar Vallardares’ factory in Danlí, Honduras.
