The city of Buckhannon, W.V. won’t be expanding its existing smoking ban that currently covers city parks, with several members saying it simply isn’t necessary. WDTV reports that the proposal was supported by only one of the five council members, and that the Upshur County Tobacco Prevention Coalition is optimistic that doesn’t consider the vote a complete defeat. The group proposed prohibiting smoking on all city-owned and operated properties. Buckhannon is located in the northern part of the state, approximately 140 miles south of Pittsburgh, Penn. and home to nearly 5,700 residents.
