The La Palina portfolio is about to get even more colorful, as this week the company will release its new La Palina Red Label, a blend said to be rooted in flavor and not strength. The cigar uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper and Ecuadorian binder over fillers Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, with production handled by PDR Cigars in the Dominican Republic. The company says it starts out mild and never gets beyond medium. It will be unveiled at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which kicks off this Friday in New Orleans, La. It’s being released in four sizes, all of which come in 20-count boxes: a Petit Lancero (6 x 40, $9/$180), Robusto (5 x 52, $10/$200), Toro (6 x 50, $10.50/$210) and Gordo (6 x 60, $11.50/$230). They are scheduled to ship by August 1, if not sooner.
