Crowned Heads and My Father Cigars are teaming up to produce a new limited edition line of annually released cigars called Las Calaveras, according to a report on CigarAficionado.com. The  first release in the new line, Las Calaveras Edición Limitada 2014, will debut in May in three sizes, a 5 x 50 robusto, 6 x 52 toro and 7 x 54 Churchill. Each size is being limited to 1,000 boxes of 24 cigars, for a total run of 72,000 sticks, with prices expected to be between $8.00 – $12.00 per cigar. While the line celebrates a traditionally Mexican feast, the cigar features no Mexican tobacco, instead using mostly Nicaraguan leaves for the filler while an Ecuadoran Havana leaf serves as the wrapper. It is also the first Crowned Heads release not to come out of Ernesto Perez-Carillo’s factory in the Dominican Republic. When asked for comment on the project, Janny Garcia deferred all questions to Jon Huber of Crowned Heads, who did not return e-mails seeking comment on the project. He did tell Cigar Aficionado that the project is designed to honor those who have passed away in the previous year and to be a celebration of their lives.
