For the second time in as many years, Crowned Heads has shipped Angel’s Anvil 2015 to retailers. As was the case last year, the Angel’s Anvil 2015 is a TAA (Tobacconists’ Association of America) exclusive release limited to just 1,000 boxes of 20 cigars that was rolled at Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic. However, the vitola for this year’s release has been changed from a 7 1/8 x 49 Churchill to a 6 x 52 toro. In addition, the blend is completely different, with the newest incarnation composed of Nicaraguan tobaccos for both the binder and filler covered in an Ecuadorian habano leaf. According to Crowned Heads co-owner Jon Huber, the blend was inspired by the company’s first limited edition release in 2012, the Four Kicks Mule Kick, and is “a step up in body” compared to last year’s release. In addition to the size and blend change, there have been significant changes made to the packaging, with this years version sporting different colors in the bands as well as Roman numerals as opposed to the Arabic numerals that were used on last year’s release.
