Gran Habano has announced the first release in a new series called the Private Humidor Selection by George Rico, which is described as a series of “heavenly-aged” cigars that come straight from Rico’s private reserve, a collection of 30,000 cigars that have been produced and designated for his personal use since 2003. While it’s a collection of different sizes and blends, the first installment in the series was released today a 7 1/2 x 38 lancero called the MLG. The cigar dates back to 2007 and 2008 and is a Nicaraguan puro that the company says was Rico’s signature go-to blend and size. Each cigar is wrapped in gold foil and then packaged in 25-count boxes designed to look like a bar of gold. The cigars were made at G.R. Tabacaleras Unidas, S.A. in Honduras, and the total number of cigars in this release has not yet been announced. Only eight retailers spread across three states are getting the cigars, which come with a pre-tax MSRP of $10 each.
