After two years on the market, Hammer + Sickle is changing the name of its Icon Series to Trademark Series. The new name might be a bit of irony as a report from TheCigarAuthority indicates that the name change is due to a trademark dispute. Erik Wentworth, national sales manager for Hammer + Sickle did not return an email seeking a comment about the report, but he did confirm the name was changing. The Bahia Icon was introduced in 2007,  Cigars International registered a trademark on Bahia Icon in 2014. In addition, Hammer + Sickle has announced a Trademark Maduro will be added to the line, although it has not specified blend details: When you have a special cigar, you want it to have the perfect name. To that end we have renamed the Icon line to Trademark Series. Icon was singular. Trademark will be plural with a Maduro offering comming in July. Now you can leave your mark in either Connecticut or Maduro The original Trademark/Icon Series blend uses a Connecticut shade wrapper over Dominican binders and fillers. It is made at Oettinger Davidoff AG’s Occidental Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic. Cigars International is owned by Scandinavian Tobacco Group.
