Mombacho Cigars S.A. Releasing Liga de Maestros

Next week, Mombacho Cigars S.A. will ship the Liga Maestro to select retailers in the U.S. The blend itself is not actually new, created in 2012 between Claudio Sgroi, Mombacho’s master blender, and Stefano Bertini of B.L.S. Sigari in Milan, Italy. The cigar itself is a Nicaraguan puro that uses tobaccos from Condega and Jalapa. For the U.S., it will be available in three sizes: Petit Corona (4 1/2 x 44, $8.95), Piramide (5 1/2 x 52, $10.95) and Robusto (5 x 50, $9.95). Each size is available in boxes of 12. “Liga Maestro is an important project for Mombacho to show Nicaraguan tobacco blended in a highly sophisticated way to fit the European palette (sic), traditionally dominated by Cuban and Dominican tobacco,” said Sgroi, in a press release. “When our US retail partners tasted Liga Maestro at Casa Favilli in January, we were overwhelmed by their feedback and demand for this cigar. This limited release is to thank them for their support and to give their customers an opportunity to taste a very different Nicaraguan cigar.” Liga Maestros is a limited production cigar, limited to 12 retailers: Cigar Hustler (Fla.)
