The South Padre Island Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Committee is expected to make a recommendation to the city council that all the city’s parks should be tobacco-free. The committee came to an agreement on making the recommendation at its meeting this week, according to a report from the Port Isabel-South Padre Press. It is unclear when the recommendation will be formally made or what the city council will do with it. South Padre Island is a popular vacation destination and is home to just under 3,000 full-time residents. It is located at the southern tip of the state.
