A mainstay of Camacho for over a decade is on its way out. The company will be discontinuing the Camacho Diploma to make way for a new line to be announced this summer. Diploma was one of the six lines that made the jump from the old Camacho to the new portfolio in 2013, but not without changes. As part of the brand’s makeover in 2013, all Camacho lines received new packaging and most received price reductions, but the Diploma blend was changed. It was originally introduced as a Honduran puro, but falling the makeover, the wrapper was changed to an Ecuadorian habana 2000 with a Honduran corojo ligero binder and Honduran corojo fillers, criollo ligero and Dominican Navarette ligero. Discontinuing is part of a new strategy being implemented by Camacho and Davidoff. When the company introduces a new line, an existing product must be discontinued. This is an effort to keep its footprint consistent within retailer’s humidors. Camacho has not yet announced its summer release. Camacho is part of Oettinger Davidoff AG. Its cigars are produced at the company’s Agroindustria LAEPE S.A. factory in Honduras and it is distributed by Davidoff of Geneva USA and in select global markets.
