Drew Estate is giving its popular Papas Fritas line a new packaging format and a new, lower price, as the four-count tins will be replaced by a newly designed 50-count box, with the single stick MSRP dropping from $6.40 to $5.25. In a press release, Drew Estate President Michael Cellucci stated that “Papas Fritas has been a good choice for any Liga Privada fan looking for a short smoke. We needed something for fans of Papas Fritas who already had plenty of tins and wanted a better value, so now we’re offering the cigar with no tin. The tins will now become a collector’s item and the Papas Fritas will be a little more budget friendly. It’s a win-win.” Papas Fritas, a 4 1/2 x 44 corona, was first announced in July 2012 and debuted at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show a few weeks later, though the first retailers to get it didn’t see it land until the end of 2012.
