Madison, Conn., a coastal town located on the state’s southern coast, will soon be considering a smoking ban for its parks and beaches after the town’s Beach and Recreation Commission proposed the idea and a town selectman has supported the idea. NBC Connecticut identified Madison First Selectman Fillmore McPherson as the supporter, who said the idea has been raised by a number of people. The idea will first get a public hearing on March 23 before the town’s selectmen put it to a vote. Madison is home to just over 18,000 residents and is located about 40 miles south of Hartford.
