Earlier this week, Estelo Padrón, the former head of production management for Villazon’s Honduran-American Tobacco S.A. (HATSA) factory in Honduras, brand developer of the non-Cuban Punch and Hoyo de Monterrey brands and brother of José Orlando Padrón, passed away. He was 87. Padrón was part of the company which shares his name from 1969 to 1971 before joining Villazon. When General Cigar Co. acquired Villazon in 1998, Padrón became general manager of the factory and was promoted to vice president of Villazon in 2004. He retired in 2009. Estelo Padrón was laid to rest on February 10.
