Two towns, one night and an increase of three years in the age to purchase tobacco products. Shortly after the nearby town of Montague passed an increase in the minimum age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21, the town of Leverett, Mass. passed a similar measure and becomes the second town in Franklin County to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21. While the city has yet to post the decision, it was a unanimous vote according to WGGB.com. Just like Montague, Leverett’s board passed a ban on flavored tobacco products and e-cigarettes as well. Unlike its neighbor, though, Leverett’s age change goes into effect on March 1. Montague decided on a July 1 change. Leverett has just under 1,900 residents and is located in central Massachusetts about 90 miles west of Boston.
