There’s a new limited edition lancero on its way to retailers, as Matilde Cigar Company is shipping its Renacer Lancero this week. The first report that the cigars were headed stateside came Jan. 12 via the Twitter account of Jose Seijas himself: lanceros shipping today — Jose Seijas (@JoseSeijas09) January 12, 2015 This morning, Enrique Seijas confirmed that the cigars were now on their way to retail. The cigar is being made in honor of José Seijas’ 40th year in the cigar business, with a corresponding 40 ring gauge and seven inch length. The cigar is also shipping in 40-count boxes, with only 30,000 sticks are being made, each having an individual MSRP of $9 per cigar. Matilde has been teasing the cigar since late May 2014, with more chatter about the cigar coming at the 2014 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. It’s the fifth vitola in the line, joining a 5 1/2 x 44 corona, 5 1/4 x 54 robusto, 6 x 60 grande and 6 1/2 x 54 Toro Bravo. The Matilde Renacer Corona scored a 90 on halfwheel in February 2014.
