There’s a new addition to Altadis U.S.A.’s Romeo y Julieta brand, as today the company announced the Romeo Añejo by Romeo y Julieta. The Romeo Añejo uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper from 2010, Dominican Olor binder from 2008 and vintage 2009 filler tobacco from Nicaragua and Honduras to create what is described as a “hearty blend” that features subtle notes of coffee and dark chocolate highlighting the rich and robust profile. The cigars are made at Tabacalera de García in the Dominican Republic, where they undergo an aging process in special cedar cajones. It is scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on January 19 and will be available in three sizes: a 5 x 54 robusto, 6 x 54 toro and 6 1/8 x 52 pyramids, all in 20-count boxes and with pre-tax MSRPs of $8.75 – $9.25.
