Maya Selva Gives Villa Zamorano New Look

Maya Selva Cigars is updating the packaging for its Villa Zamorano line, with a pair of new looks headed to retailers both in the U.S. and abroad. Villa Zamorano is the company’s cost-conscious brand, and the packaging arose from the need for a point-of-sale presentation that would appeal to U.S. customers, according to Katherine Agurcia, the company’s digital marketing manager. Originally, the line was sold in 25-count bundles wrapped in cellophane, but a successful reception warranted an evolution of its shelf presentation. The two new packaging formats started to be seen at the end of summer 2014; a limited edition jute package and a cardboard box presentation. Jute is a vegetable fiber that is long and soft enough to be spun into coarse threads and then turned into burlap, Hessian or gunny cloth. Each presentation style contains 25 cigars wrapped in cellophane. While all the presentations will be available in the United States and Europe, the jute packages are a limited edition. The cellophane bundles and cardboard presentation will continue until “their next evolution,” according to the company. The Villa Zamorano blend is composed of a Honduran wrapper, Brazilian Mata Fina binder and filler from Honduras: Jamastrán viso and Trojes ligero. ...
