Kafie Trading Company has announced a new addition to its Kafie 1901 line of cigars, as the Kafie 1901 Connecticut is slated to hit stores in February 2015. The new release uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper grown at high elevations under prevalent cloud cover, a Honduran binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Gaby Kafie told halfwheel that the average age of the tobacco is between three and four years old and the blend is medium bodied and full flavor. There will be three vitola initially released, a 5 x 50 robust, 6 x 53 toro and 7 x 47 Churchill, all of which are packaged in 20-count boxes and will have an MSRP of between $7 and $9 per cigar. While the Kafie 1901 Connecticut will be an ongoing production, yearly output will be limited to 3,200 boxes. The cigars are being made at Tabacalera Puros Aliados in Honduras. It’s the second line for the company, joining the Don Fernando maduro released on July 31, 2013. Additionally, Kafie plans to release another new blend prior to the 2015 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, the Kafie 1901 Sumatra.
