Soon, smoking at most workplaces in Conway, N.C. could become a thing of the past. The Conway City Council is considering a new ordinance that would fine violators $100 if smoking is caught inside most business or at non-designated areas of parks and recreation areas. Tobacco stores, cigar bars and hotels will be permitted as long as the establishments have proper ventilation systems. Conway is located in the northeastern part of the state, under eight miles from the North Carolina-Virginia border. It has a population under 1,000.
