Davidoff to Release Final “Miami Collection” Humidors at Art Basel

At this week’s Art Basel Miami Beach, Davidoff will be releasing the final four humidors made by French artist Daniel Clément as part of “The Miami Collection.” These humidors feature a unique combination of ordered patterns mixing colors and mirror with a geometric effect, a process known as marqueterie de verre, a French phrase which translates as inlaid glass. Clément says he found inspiration for the project in the mirror marqueterie of Miami, which mixes geometric shape and colors. He has been working on similar humidors since 2007, with each humidor requiring between 600 and 3,000 pieces of glass to achieve the final result. Each piece of glass used for the humidor is meticulously cut and assembled by hand, a process that results in a truly unique final product that will not be replicated. The four humidors each hold between 190-250 humidors and measure just under 20 inches in width, 14 inches deep and seven inches high. The inside of the humidor comes in a varnished, exclusively selected okumé-wood, specially chosen to preserve the individual flavor of each cigar.
