A proposed smoking ban in Pooler, Ga. passed with 83% of voters supporting it, meaning a ban on lighting up in enclosed public places, workplaces, outdoor arenas, stadiums, parks and playgrounds will soon be coming to the city of just over 21,000 residents. Additionally, smokers must stay at least 10 feet away from entrances or windows to places where smoking is now prohibited. Pooler’s ban is reported to be based off a similar ban enacted by the Savannah City Council two years ago and without a public vote. Pooler is located just 10 miles west of Savannah.
