When La Flor Dominicana announced its new 1994 series, much of the attention turned to a cigar they were really not ready to talk about, the Beer Stein. Four of the cigars are regular production items that shipped in August, the other, a 6 x 54 version of the blend is limited and is just now beginning to take ship. Originally expected to debut in September, the Beer Stein is now slated for the first week of December. The company will make 3,000 Beer Steins with 20 cigars available as part of the initial release. It will then produce anywhere between 2,000-7,000 more depending on demand. That could add up to 10,000 Beer Steins, more than triple the amount originally anticipated. The cigar actually features a different blend, using a maduro version of the Mexican San Andrés wrapper found on the original, over Dominican fillers blend that the regular line has, the packaging is radically different. Instead of a box, the cigars are placed in a traditional Munich-style beer stein with a few touches of La Flor Dominicana, most noticeably, the lid which opens to reveal the cigars is painted to model La Flor Dominicana owner Litto Gomez’s signature hat. ...
