La Palina’s latest creation, Black Label, has begun shipping to all retailers who ordered the cigar after debuting at a handful of events last month. The new line has been on the radar since early April with details being finalized in early July ahead of its debut at the 2014 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. It is billed as the strongest release to date from Bill Paley’s company, using a Brazilian Bahiano wrapper over a dual binder of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco, with Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler as well. It’s made at PDR Cigars in the Dominican Republic, the same factory that makes the La Palina Classic line. The La Palina Black Label is debuting in four sizes, Gordo (6 x 60, $11.50), Petit Lancero (6 x 40, $9), Robusto (5 x 52, $10) and Toro (6 x 50, $10.50), with each sizes packed in 20-count boxes. The robust vitola was reviewed on halfwheel in late August.
