Gurkha has begun shipping its new Private Selects, a single vitola cigar that features tobacco infused with Ron Abuelo seven-year-aged rum. The Gurkha Private Select uses a maduro wrapper from an undisclosed country over Nicaraguan binder and filler. American Caribbean Tobacco S.A.’s factory in Nicaragua is handling the production. The cigar was part of Gurkha’s new releases at the 2014 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, but the cigar itself was not on display at the industry’s annual gathering, only the band and a mock-up of the presentation. Each comes in a wax-dipped glass tube, which are then packed into 30-count boxes. The Gurkha Private Select is being released in only a 7 1/4 x 52 churchill vitola, with an MSRP of $360 per box and $12 per cigar, before taxes. It’s a regular production cigar, according to a company spokesperson. Gurkha is also planning on releasing a five-pack version of the cigar before the winter holidays. (Images via Gurkha Cigar Co.)
