A ban on smoking in city-owned outdoor recreation areas, parks and riverfront facilities was passed by the Franklin City Council on Monday night by a vote of 6-1. The city has not posted any mention of the ban on its website, nor the proposal that was presented to and voted on by the council, however ExploreVenago.com reports that the ban will not include the city’s boat launch or baseball and softball fields, including a 25-foot area around the fields. Franklin is home to approximately 6,500 residents and is located 75 miles north of Pittsburgh.
